Western Europe, other than France, has implemented a multitude of nonsensical energy policies in the 21st Century. Some of those include increasingly relying on 19th century fuel sources such as coal and, even, wood. The latter, also irrationally, was deemed to be both renewable and green (no quibble on the first part, other than that the renewing takes decades).
